Toxicity of Squirrel Urine & How to Remove the Odor

If you have a squirrel in your home, then for sure, you must be facing their urine and poop. Although the squirrel urine contains a bad smell, it is not as much dangerous as compared to rats. You just cover yourself to prevent any kind of infection. Do not forget to use gloves when you are going to remove squirrel urine and waste. 

What to do if you saw the squirrel waste? 
The first task that you have to do is to remove the waste from your home/area. If you find all the feces and urine spots in one place, dry them with the towel paper. Now put these dirty towel paper into the plastic bags to dispose of them. 

Make a solution to wash the area
As the area got dry now, it's time to wash the area with homemade liquid to eliminate the odor. Take bleach and water in equal quantity, add this liquid into the spray bottle and spread all over the area, let the place to be dry. 

Squirrel urine
No doubt, squirrel urine is toxic and dangerous for health, but as compare to bat and rat, its urine is less infectious. A squirrel can become the cause ofleptospirosis and tularemia disease. No matter, its urine is less toxic or more, you have to remove it. Make sure you have removed the urine sports and feces properly, and the area is now germed free with no odor. While removing the waste take care of following things:

• Make sure your skin did not get any contact with the urine
• Use gloves (rubber gloves) to avoid contact with the urine
• Use a face mask, and you will not inhale any waste smell into your lungs if so you are going to become a victim of leptospirosis and tularemia disease
• After cleaning the waste from the area use bleach to kill all kind of bacteria and virus
• Seal the places, so no squirrel will be able to enter within the area. 
• Do not feed squirrels.
• Do not forget to dispose of the gloves, mask after cleaning the area. 

What are the causes of squirrel urine? 
Squirrel urine to make dirty your home as the urine will make the mark on the floor or anywhere or to get relief from the waste after eating the food; as a result, you will have to bear not only the smell but the stains of the urine too.  If you found the urine stain in your home that's clear, the squirrel is living somewhere into your house, find the shelter and remove it as soon as possible. Use spray after removing the shelter.  There is also the possibility that squirrel has found a source of food into your home, make sure all the places are closed, there is no entryway and did not place the food open.  When the squirrel does not get any food or living place into your home, they are definitely going to leave your home.
